The majesty and mystery of New York’s Adirondack Park is thoughtfully explored in this one-half hour documentary. The Park is made up of a unique patchwork of public and private lands which together constitute the largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi River. With a small number of year-round residents, hundreds of Park rangers and researchers, and thousands of annual tourists, the Park serves many human needs, and serves as home to a startling range of plant and animal life. This film provides a comprehensive human history and a balanced discussion of the challenges the Park has faced since it was first declared officially “forever wild.”
